Symbolizing: Rest
I often think of cotton candy when I see the astilbe – plumes of creamy white, burnt red, royal purple, peachy coral, and soft pink, each as soft as cotton candy. The astilbe may be found blossoming during the mid-summer in cooler shaded locations that refresh and provide rest. I centered this devotion on Matthew 11:28-30 where Jesus begins, "Come to me, all you who are weary …" with a focus on his gentleness and humility.
